It was just by chance that I learned how completely wrong I was.

I was researching ideas for one of my templates and came across a nice article on filling out the alt text on your website images.

I was still a beginner, but it went against what I had originally thought, and I felt a bit unsettled.

It made me wonder: what else was I doing incorrectly?!

And could this be why my page views weren’t meeting my expectations?

It’s been a few years since and I can tell you with certainty, YES!

It took me a while to update my daily SEO routine to the point where I started seeing great results – but it was worth it.

You want to know what helped?

Here are nine of the best practices to supercharge your page:

  1. Regular Updates: Revisit those older posts and give them all the SEO love you can!
  1. Photo File Names: Keep them short but descriptive.
  1. Photo Size: Don’t feel bad about downsizing your images – your pages will load more smoothly.
  1. Alt Text: Learn how to give screen readers the ideal description of your photos.
  1. Meta Title & Description: Win more visitors when you spice up this text that serves as a preview of your page.
  1. Headings: Search engines adore headings – and so do your busy readers!
  1. Quality of Content: Explore ways to connect with your readers and do plenty of keyword research to find out what information they’re craving.
  1. Links: Both internal and external links can add authenticity, as well as stepping stones to get your readers to other parts of your site.
  1. Affiliates: Learn the difference between a ‘follow’ and ‘no-follow’ link.

Remember, it takes time for these tips to take effect but once you set yourself up as a valuable resource for your niche, your audience will find you!
